Ski Boot Fitting

Sophie Roberts offers advice on Ski Boot Fitting and can assess either current ski boots or she can give advice on buying new Ski Boots. She has had 10 years experience in fitting and assessing ski boots, of which 4 years she spent working in Whistler, Canada. She can offer advice on how to resolve foot cramps, shin pain/bang, arch cramps, toe pain as well as many other problems. She can check the fit of the boot to also enhance foot function during skiing. She can help any level skier from beginner to elite level.

The assessment involves:

  • A history of past and current problems with Ski Boots
  • A detailed Biomechanical Assessment of foot structure and function
  • Assessment of the Liner
  • Assessment of the Shell of the Ski Boot
  • Alignment and Canting of the Cuff
  • Assessment of either current Footbed/Insoles/Ski Orthotics or suitability for which type is necessary

Sophie can also use Pressure Analysis to assess the function of the foot and Footbed/Insoles/Ski Orthotics. The skier stands on pressure sensitive pads which are linked live to a computer and simulates movements of the foot and ankle during skiing. The foot function is then analysed to see if the foot is able to reproduce edging mechanics. The Footbed/Insoles/Ski Orthotics can then be analyzed by placing the pressure sensitive pads on top of the Footbed/Insoles/Ski Orthotics.

Sophie can carry out simple modifications to the ski boots herself however for more extensive boot work or replacement ski boots, she will refer Clients to a Ski Shop
